Our dedicated team specializes in delivering exceptional psychoeducational assessments, tutoring, and counseling services, all tailored to meet each child’s unique requirements. Abby Hartmann, MS.CAGS, ABSNP, Licensed School Psychologist and Founder
Abby Hartmann is the Founder of The Hartmann Center and a certified, licensed School Psychologist with over a decade of experience supporting students and families. She earned her Master of Science in School Psychology in 2014 and a Specialist Degree in 2016 from Capella University. Abby also completed the School Neuropsychology Post-Graduate Certification Program and is a Diplomat in School Neuropsychology, with the American Board of School Neuropsychology (ABSNP).
Not only does Abby serve Central Florida and the surrounding areas, she also serves an international client base, traveling on-site to Istanbul and Prague, along with virtual assessments worldwide.
Abby specializes in psychoeducational assessments, individualized education plans, and interventions addressing executive functioning, emotional regulation, and academic success. Her holistic approach considers each student's cognitive, emotional, and social development, ensuring personalized and effective support.
A passionate advocate for equitable education, Abby founded The Hartmann Center to empower students and families through tailored, evidence-based services. Known for her compassionate and solution-focused methods, she is dedicated to helping students overcome challenges, build confidence, and achieve lasting success.
Abby McCarthy, Ed.s, Licensed Lead School Psychologist And Partner
Abby McCarthy is a Partner at The Hartmann Center, a Licensed School Psychologist, and a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). She earned her Master of Science and Educational Specialist degrees in School Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2019, specializing in psychological assessment, evidence-based interventions, and collaborative support for students across academic, emotional, and behavioral domains.
Abby’s expertise spans psychoeducational assessments, individualized education planning, and behavioral interventions rooted in the principles of applied behavior analysis. Her dual qualifications uniquely position her to address a broad range of student needs—supporting academic growth, fostering emotional resilience, and guiding positive behavioral change.
With experience in diverse educational settings, Abby takes a holistic and compassionate approach, partnering with families, educators, and schools to develop personalized, effective support systems. Committed to ongoing professional growth, she remains current with advancements in school psychology to provide the highest quality services for the students she serves.
Stacey Densberger, School Psychologist
Stacey holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida State University and an Education Specialist degree in School Psychology from the University of Central Florida. As a certified and licensed school psychologist, she has been serving local school districts with unwavering dedication and expertise since 2000. Over the years, she has earned a reputation for her compassionate approach, working tirelessly to support the academic, emotional, and social development of students.
Stacey’s life outside of her professional work is equally fulfilling. She shares a strong partnership with her husband, Zack, a high school teacher and basketball coach, and together they raise their two sons, Connor and Ethan. Their family values quality time, whether it’s cheering on a basketball game, exploring new destinations, or enjoying quiet evenings at home.
In her leisure time, Stacey indulges her love of travel, reading, and making lasting memories with friends and family. Her commitment to helping others extends into the community, where she has been an active volunteer with the Adult Literacy League for the past two years, tutoring adults to help them improve their literacy skills and achieve personal milestones.
Stacey’s blend of professional expertise, family dedication, and community service reflects her passion for making a positive impact on those around her, both in and out of the school setting.
Jennifer Utsey, School Psychologist
Jennifer Utsey is a School Psychologist at The Hartmann Center with a strong commitment to supporting students and families through comprehensive psychological and educational services. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Florida and her Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology from the University of Central Florida.
Since 2017, Jennifer has worked within the public school system, where she has developed extensive experience in assessment, consultation, and problem-solving to support student success. She is particularly knowledgeable about parental rights within the educational system and works closely with families to help them understand available services and supports for students based on their individual needs.
Jennifer is especially passionate about early intervention and believes that identifying and addressing challenges early can significantly improve long-term academic, social, and emotional outcomes for children. She values working collaboratively with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure that students receive the resources and support necessary to thrive.
Dr. Sarah Lawson, NCSP, Licensed School Psychologist
Sarah specializes in psychoeducational evaluations and has been administering assessments in some capacity for over 15 years. She also specializes in educational advocacy and policy and prides herself on being a collaborative advocate for students with disabilities. She has worked in a variety of settings, from early childhood centers, to alternative schools, to providing remote services to students across the country, to training and supervising graduate students.
Sarah received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Southeastern University in 2009. She went on the obtain her Education Specialist degree in School Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2013. After a few years in the field, she decided to go back for her doctorate, and earned a Doctor of Education from Florida State University in 2021. Since then, she has earned a master’s degree in educational leadership and has studied play therapy. Sarah considers herself a perpetual student. She holds a national certification in school psychology and licensure in school psychology.
When counseling, Sarah tends to be a bit eclectic, and utilizes cognitive behavior therapy and play therapy techniques.
Outside of work, Sarah is a wife and a mom to three amazing kids. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, finding new coffee shops, and let’s be honest, taking naps.
Karla Zaffis, M.A., CCC-SLP
Karla Zaffis is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with more than 20 years of experience serving individuals across private practice, home health, and educational settings. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Central Florida.
Karla began her school-based career in 2012 with Lake County Schools, where she has dedicated herself to supporting students, families, and staff. Currently, she serves as an ESE Program Specialist for Speech, Language, and Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH), a role she began in 2024. In this district leadership position, Karla collaborates with the team of SLPs, district program specialists, and interpreters to enhance communication services, provide professional development, and ensure equitable support for students with varying needs.
As a clinician, Karla loves implementing play-based, thematic therapy and consistently integrates literacy into her weekly sessions to support speech and language growth. She values co-treatment and collaboration with other professionals, believing that a team-based approach is key to meeting the needs of the whole child. Passionate about empowering others through communication, Karla remains committed to fostering growth, inclusion, and lifelong learning in the field of speech-language pathology.
Chris Couture, Finance Team
Chris Couture is the Principal of Couture Ledger Group, a financial services firm dedicated to providing high-precision accounting, reporting, and advisory solutions to small and mid-sized businesses. With more than 20 years of experience spanning bookkeeping, account management, and executive leadership, Chris brings a uniquely well-rounded perspective to financial operations and strategic planning.
Chris began his career as a bookkeeper in the shipping and logistics industry, where he developed a deep understanding of complex operational finance. He later moved into account management in the building and construction materials sector, before rising to the roles of COO and CEO at a property management software company. There, he led the organization for over 12 years, driving growth, process improvements, and client satisfaction. He also brings specialized knowledge in foreign currency exchange.
Chris holds a degree from Seminole State College and earned Technical Certifications in Financial Operations, graduating Summa Cum Laude. His reputation for integrity and precision has made him a go-to advisor for businesses seeking clarity and control over their finances.
As a trusted financial vendor for The Hartmann Center, Chris manages their financial reporting, and other key functions, allowing their team to stay focused on delivering excellent care. His hands-on approach and strategic insight make him an indispensable partner to every client he serves.
